| Not all transgenics have to be for serious research! Zebrafish expressing RFP have recently been introduced to the home-aquarium market as GloFish™. And using a Dark Reader makes for stunning viewing. This, in spite of the 550 nm excitation maximum of RFP which might seem to put it outside the range of the blue light Dark Reader. |

| The reason is evident from a more detailed consideration of the RFP excitation spectrum which reveals substantial excitation between 400 - 500 nm. (See here for more discussion on which fluorophors work best with the Dark Reader.) | ||||||||
